San Jose, Calif.—Lauren Jacobsen, a 6-0 outside hitter from Phoenix, and Tyanna Roy, a 6-0 outside hitter from Blinn College and Acalanes High School, have signed National Letters-of-Intent to play volleyball at San Jose State University, as announced by Spartan head coach Oscar Crespo.
Jacobsen was a three-year starter at Hamilton High School in Phoenix. She was a 2012 honorable mention all-state selection, a second team All-Section II honoree and a two-time All-East Valley Tribune honorable mention honoree. Her team was ranked second in the state and lost in the state tournament semifinal game in 2012. Jacobsen plays club for AZ East Valley Juniors on the 18-Legacy team.
Roy played at Blinn College (Texas) for the 2012 season. She was a first team All-NJCAA Region XIV District L honoree. Roy was the second-leading hitter on the team with 173 kills and had 153 digs (1.89 ps) and 42 blocks (0.52 ps). Roy graduated from Acalanes High School (Lafayette, Calif.) in 2011 and was a two-time first team All-Diablo Foothill Athletic League honoree for the volleyball team. She was a CIF Scholar Athlete and also played basketball. Roy played club for the Golden Bear Volleyball Club.
“Both players bring athleticism and more depth to our team,” said Crespo. “Lauren is an extremely competitive and strong athlete. Tyanna brings experience to the team after playing the last season at a very good junior college program. They will help shape our competitive environment this fall.”
