San Jose-Megan Powers, a 6-0 middle blocker, and Lindsay Skadeland, a 6-1 right side, signed National Letters-of-Intent to play at San Jose State in 2013 and received all-state honors for their respective teams this past season.
Powers played for Ironwood High School in Glendale, Ariz. She is a two-time Division II All-State first-team selection and Arizona Republic Division II All-State first-team selection. Powers led her team the past two seasons in kills, blocks and aces and was a two-time first team all-district honoree. Her junior year, she led her team to the state quarterfinals where they lost a close five-set match to Phoenix Arcadia. Off the court, Powers is a member of the National Honor Society and received the Renaissance Award each year for a 4.0 grade-point average.
Skadeland played at Mountain Ridge High School in Glendale, Ariz. She was named to the Division I All-State honorable mention team and Arizona Republic Division I All-State honorable mention pick. Her team was the 2011 and 2012 state runners-up. Skadeland has been on the Honor Roll all four years of high school.
"Megan and Lindsay are very competitive players and bring more depth to their positions" said Spartan head coach Oscar Crespo. "Megan is quick, athletic and fast, and Lindsay is quick on the attack and a good blocker. They will help increase the level of play in our gym."
