Laramie, Wyo.—Hanah Blume recorded her fourth consecutive double-double, but service and receiving errors doomed the San José State volleyball team in a 3-1 loss (25-19, 25-22, 23-25, 25-13) at Wyoming Thursday night in a Mountain West match
Blume led all hitters with 16 kills and hit .297 for the match. She added 12 digs for her 13th double-double of the season.
Two other hitters had double-digit kills. Tyanna Roy added 13 kills and two blocks, while Mary Alice O'Reilly had 10 kills and hit .471 for the match with 17 attempts and two errors. She led the team with three block assists.
The Spartan hit just .215 for the match, but also gave up 18 points in serve-receive. The team recorded eight service errors, and Wyoming recorded 10 service aces in the match.
“Despite losing, we played well on the road with more energy and pride on the floor,” said Spartan head coach Oscar Crespo. “We played hard and together throughout the match. This was a tough gym to play in with the altitude and the fun atmosphere.
“However, we have to be more consistent with our serve/receive. We gave away 18 points with 10 reception errors and eight service errors.”
San José State now travels to #12 Colorado State for a Saturday afternoon match at 1 p.m. MDT.
