Volleyball Swept By Aztecs

San José, Calif.--Nandyala Gama led all hitters in kills for the second straight match, but the San José State volleyball team hit just .064 in a 3-0 loss to San Diego State (25-20, 25-15, 25-16) Saturday night at Spartan Gym.

Gama had 10 kills in the match to lead the team.  She also had two blocks, one solo and one assist.  She was the only player between the two teams in double-digit kills.

Tyanna Roy added nine kills for the Spartans, and Yavianliz Rosado recorded a team-high 14 digs.  The team hit just .064 for the match and did not record a service aces. 

San José State started the match strong, going out to a 5-0 lead to start the match.  The Spartans led 14-7 on an Aztec hitting error, forcing the visitors to take a timeout.  San Diego State then started to chip away at the lead, tying the score at 19-19 and scored six of the final seven points to win the first set 25-20.

The Aztecs won the last two sets 25-15 and 25-16.  The Spartans hit .000 over the final two sets and had just two blocks in those sets.

San José State goes on the road for two Mountain West matches, playing at Air Force on Thursday, October 23, and at New Mexico on Saturday, October 25.
