Volleyball Swept At San Diego State

San Diego, Calif.--Hanah Blume led the San José State volleyball team with 13 kills as the Spartans were swept at San Diego State, 3-0 (25-19, 26-24, 25-15), Saturday night in a Mountain West match.

Blume accounted for just over a third of the Spartan kills of the night, 13 of 36.  She added six digs and an ace in the match.

Lauren Jacobsen added eight kills and 13 digs, while Sarah Griest had six kills and a block.  Megan Powers and Mary Alice O'Reilly each had a solo block and a block assist. 

Kiely Pieper led the team with 17 digs, while Michaela Leonard recorded 32 assists and eight digs.  Cori O'Donoghue added four digs.

The Spartans hit just .116 for the match and were outblocked by the Aztecs,10-5. 

San José State falls to 3-11 overall and 0-4 in the Mountain West.  The team plays three matches in four days next week.  The Spartans host Nevada Thursday night at 7 p.m., followed by a match Friday at Fresno State at 7 p.m.  The team finishes the stretch with a non-conference match at CSU Bakersfield on Sunday, October 13, at 4 p.m.
