The San José State women's track and field team begins its 2017-18 indoor campaign on Saturday, December 9, at the Jackson's Open in Boise, Idaho.
"The meet this weekend will be a good opportunity to see where we are in our fall training," said Director of Track & Field Jeff Petersmeyer. "Several newcomers will be in action for the first time for us and I know they are excited to go out and show what they can do."
Among those newcomers are sprinters Sarahvaughn King and Lovenie Dantes who will race in the 200 and 400-meters along with a host of their Spartan teammates. Devyn Weisenberger and Brittany Brown are two jumpers scheduled to make their Spartan debuts in the high and triple jumps.
But it won't be all about the newcomers as Spartan veterans Destiny Longmire (60 meters, long jump), Kelsey Johnson-Upshaw (long jump, triple jump) and Kolbi Sims (high jump, long jump) will all make their 2017-18 debuts.
Field events begin at 9:00 a.m. (MT) with the high jump. Running events begin at 11:00 a.m., and the meet concludes with the 4x400-meter relay scheduled for 2:40 p.m.
