SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State assistant track and field, Brad Wick, announced that a pair of distance runners has signed National Letters of Intent to compete for the Spartans.

Santa Barbara, California's Adilene Aldapa from San Marcos High School and Temecula, California's Ashley Cahalan of Vista Murrieta High School, will enroll at San José State in the fall of 2015, the Spartans third season of women's track and field.

"Adilene really came on the scene last spring in track and has a huge upside," said Wick. "Ashley loves to run and that passion will carry over to a fantastic college career. Both Ashley and Adilene will be an immediate impact on the team next fall."

Aldapa, last fall's Channel League champion in the 1600m, has a personal best of 5:01 in the 1600m and 11:03 in the 3200m.

Ashley Cahalan is from Vista Murrieta High School and is the Mt. Sac Sub Sweepstakes Champ with a time of 17:54. Last spring she ran a personal best of 10:59 for the 3200m.
