Spartans Head To Wyoming For MW Championship

San Jose, Calif. - San Jose State women's track and field team has 14 entries in five events for its first Mountain West Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships beginning Wednesday, May 14 at the Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex on the campus of the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyo.

The Spartans first event, the Steeplechase, Friday May 16.  San Jose State will also be competing in the 1500 Meters, 100 Meters, 200 Meters and 10,000 Meters on Friday.  On Saturday, the lone competition for the Spartans is the 5,000 Meters.

"This is a great opportunity for our athletes to gain experience at the conference level," head coach Jeff Petersmeyer said.  "We have a really young team so going into next year this competition will be invaluable to us."

Spartans who qualify will compete at the NCAA West Preliminary from May 29-31 in Fayetteville, Ark.
