The San José State women’s track & field team is competing in its final two meets of the regular season this weekend at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational and the Fresno State Invitational.
The Brutus Hamilton Invitational, hosted by California, is an all-day meet taking place on Friday. The Fresno State invitational, hosted by the Mountain West foe Bulldogs, will take place on Saturday at Buchannon High School in Clovis, Calif. San José State just competed there last weekend in another meet hosted by Fresno State.
If the season ended today there would be two Spartans headed to the NCAA Championship West Preliminaries taking place the last week of May in Austin, Texas. Destiny Longmire’s 6.15 meter long jump ranks 19th in the West Region while Jennifer Sandoval’s 34:44.17 in the 10000 currently ranks 35th. The top-48 of each event in both the West and the East make it to the championship preliminaries.
While the two meets present more opportunities for the Spartans to jump into the top-48, it also serves as the final tuneup for the Mountain West Championships coming up on May 10-13 in Logan, Utah.
Live results for both meets can be found on the women’s track & field schedule page or at the top of this article. Final results will be posted on SJSUSpartans.com following the conclusion of each meet.
