The San José State women's track and field team will be in the mix with the country's best again this week when it splits up to compete in four meets in the Los Angeles area.

The Spartans will begin with the heptathlon at the California Invitational Combined, in Azusa, Calif., on Wednesday and Thursday. Then, the focus shifts to one of the most competitive meets in the country, the Mt. SAC Relays, which run Thursday through Saturday in Los Angeles. Two more destinations include the Bryan Clay Invitational and the Long Beach State Invitational.

"We will be up against competition from all over the country this weekend and will give our team an opportunity to compete in multiple meets all in the same weekend," said Spartans' head coach Jeff Petersmeyer. "We would love to come home with some additional marks that will qualify for the NCAA first round in Kansas."

Sprinters Makayla Webb and Caitlin Wilson, middle distance senior Jennifer Beckingham and jumpers Nicole Iloanya and Kelsey Johnson-Upshaw have all turned in top-25 marks this season in the NCAA's Division I West Region.
