Track & Field Competes In Pair Of Bay Area Meets

The San José State women’s track and field team is competing in a pair of Bay Area meets this weekend at the Stanford Invitational and San Francisco State Distance Carnival.
SJSU begins Friday’s action at the Distance Carnival at Cox Stadium in San Francisco with the high jump and triple jump set for 9:30 a.m. (PT). Later in the day the distance crew of Adilene Aldapa, Jennifer Sandoval, Ashley Cahalan and Karina Nunes. will take over for the 1500 and 5000-meter events. Jeanette Zambrano will race in the 3,000-steeplechase which begins at approximately 2:00 p.m. A 4x400-meter relay team will also hit the track Friday afternoon around 3:25 p.m.
Meanwhile Jade Childs, Cambree Harbaugh, Kolbi Sims, Natalia Gutierrez and Destiny Longmire will hold it down on the Peninsula Friday afternoon at Stanford. The group will compete in the long jump, high jump, 100-meter hurdles and 100-meter dash. Prelims for the 100-hurdles are scheduled to begin at 11:45 a.m., while the 100-meter dash trails begin at 12:30 p.m. The long jump and high jump will take place at 2:45 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. respectively.
Then, it should be a speedy Saturday back at the Distance Carnival as the Spartan sprinters hit the track beginning at 9:30 a.m. (PT). Prelims for the 100-meter hurdles with Diamond Tabron, Sahla Cook, Jayla Williams and Childs will begin the day. The 100-meter dash prelims with Breya Carter, Makayla Webb and Caitlin Wilson will follow. Finals for both of those events are scheduled roughly between 12:30-1:30 p.m.
