San Jose State University has 14 entries in four events for its first Mountain West Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships starting Thursday, February 27 at the Cadet Fieldhouse on the U.S. Air Force Academy campus in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The Spartans will compete on Friday, February 28, in the mile run, the 60-meter dash, the 800-meter run and the distance medley relay. For San Jose State, the distance medley relay is a new race for the first-year program. The distance medley relay consists of four runners racing distances of 1200, 400, 800 and a mile.

"We're looking forward to San Jose State's first Mountain West Championships. Everybody (on the team) is going to see what it takes to be competitive in our conference. That's going to be a great experience for us going forward," says San Jose State women's track and field head coach Jeff Petersmeyer.

All 11 conference schools are competing for the 2014 championship. San Diego State is the defending women's indoor champion.
