The San José State University women's track and field team is headed to Albuquerque, N.M., for the Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships, held February 25-27.
Jade Childs and Kolbi Sims will get the action started for the Spartans in the women's pentathlon on Thursday. Both achieved indoor personal-best results in their last pentathlon outing at the Mountain T's Invitational (1/29), and Childs' 3,491 points set a new school record. Childs is seeded fifth out of 17 heading into the championship.
It will be a busy championship meet for Childs, who is slated to compete in the long and high jump events as well as the 60-meter hurdles.
Nicole Iloanya, the newest school-record holder in the indoor triple jump, will compete in her signature event where she is the No. 2 seed behind New Mexico's Janell Hadnot. Iloanya set the school record just two weeks ago inside the Albuquerque Convention Center where the championship is being held.
The Spartans will be active in both short sprints and distance events. Makayla Webb's school-record 8.66 in the 60-meter hurdles has her seeded inside the top-10 heading into the championship.
Lalida Maokhamphiou will race in the 1-mile run while senior Jennifer Beckingham will run the 3,000. A full list of Spartan entries can be found at the top of the page by clicking the descending order link.

Boise State comes into the championship ranked 19th nationally, while New Mexico comes in ranked 23rd. The host Lobos will be trying for a three-peat at the MW Championship.
Prelims for sprints, distance and field events will take place on Friday, with finals scheduled for Saturday. Head over to the Mountain West Championship Central page for full descending order lists as well as a full schedule of events and live results.
