The Mountain West Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships begin Thursday, February 22, at the Albuquerque Convention Center. After an indoor regular season which included multiple personal and school records, SJSU Director of Track & Field Jeff Petersmeyer is ready to bring his team to the championships.
“We have a lot of ladies who can be in scoring position, more so than in years past,” Petersmeyer said. “We've had a strong indoor season thus far and I look forward to seeing who steps up this weekend.”
Kolbi Sims will get the action started for the Spartans on Thursday in the pentathlon. Sims scored two points with a seventh place finish in last year’s MW Championship pentathlon.
Preliminaries and finals for sprints plus jumping finals will follow on Friday and Saturday. San José State sophomore Destiny Longmire owns the league’s best long jump of 6.24 meters – ranking 15th in the country – heading into the championships.
