Laramie, Wyo. – The San Jose State women’s track and field team concluded its inaugural season with a single race on the final day of the 2014 Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

Melanie Fujiwara was the lone Spartan to toe the line in the 5000 Meters race.  She finished with a time of 18:59.41 on the track at the Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex on the University of Wyoming campus.

“We are really proud of this group and their efforts in this inaugural season of track and field at San José State,” head coach Jeff Petersmeyer said Saturday afternoon.  “They have set a foundation for our program and we are all looking to the future for some great things from this team.”

A top-10 finish in the Steeplechase by Lalida Maokhamphiou and, in her first collegiate attempt at the 10,000 Meters, a top-15 finish for Aylin Mejia were the highlights for the Spartans in the Championships.
