Clovis, Calif. --- Cambree Harbaugh busted her own school record in the long jump and combined with teammate Kelsey Johnson-Upshaw to score seven points for San José State Friday at the 2016 Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
While the long jump duo put points on the board today, Makayla Webb and Caitlin Wilson qualified for finals and a chance to increase the Spartans' team total in the championship on Saturday.
Harbaugh became the first SJSU women's long jumper to break hit six-meter plateau in the long jump when she landed exactly 6.00 meters on her second attempt. The mark goes down as a new school record passing her own 5.97-meter jump from a season ago. Harbaugh's jump was good for fifth place and worth four points for the Spartans in the team scoring.
Last year's Mountain West outdoor long jump champion Johnson-Upshaw, scored again for San José State on Friday with a 5.97-meter jump. She finished sixth and registered three points.
Webb is moving onto the finals in both the 100 and 400-meter hurdles. She clocked a 59.71 in the 400 hurdles to finish second in the prelims. The time is just off of her school-record 59.53 which she set in the season-opener.
A 13.58 for Webb in the 100-hurdles was good for sixth.
Wilson is in on the finals action too after she ran a 23.84 in the 200-meter dash. Her time was also sixth in the prelims.
