Clovis, Calif.----- San Jose State University sophomore Destiny Longmire jumped 6.24 meters on her second of six attempts to repeat as the Mountain West outdoor track and field champion in the women's long jump.

Longmire joined Amy Menlove of Brigham Young University as the only women in conference history to win the Mountain West outdoor long jump championship as a freshman and a sophomore. Menlove, one of six to capture two Mountain West outdoor long jump titles, first won in 2004 and repeated in 2005.

"It means a lot to be a back-to-back champion. I've worked very hard for this moment and it's nice to see my hard work pay off," said Longmire, the Spartans' first two-time Mountain West track and field champion in any event.

The long jump was San Jose State's most productive event on the third day of the four-day meet. Besides Longmire standing atop the victory stand, senior Cambree Harbaugh, the 2018 Mountain West indoor long jump champion, had her best mark, 6.10 meters on her final attempt to finish fifth. Seniors Nicole Iloanya and Kelsey Johnson-Upshaw finished seventh and eighth, respectively, giving the Spartans their entire team point total of 17 for the day in one event.

San Jose State is in seventh place in the team standings with 25 points. Colorado State leads the pack with 51. Utah State and New Mexico are tied for second at 36 through seven events.
