April 28, 2017

Berkeley, Calif. --- The San José State women’s track & field team began its final weekend of the regular season with a small group of sprinters and one distance runner at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational, hosted by California.

Like many of the Spartan sprinters have over the past few weeks, Breya Carter clocked another season-best time. She finished the 100-meter dash in 12.60 for a third place finish.

Other sprinters in action included Jayla Williams and Diamond Tabron. Williams ran a 15.25 in the 100-hurdles and a 26.99 in the 200-meter dash, while Tabron clocked a 15.26 in the 100-hurdles.

Karina Nunes was SJSU’s lone distance runner at the event. She finished the 5,000-meter race in 18:29.31.

A full day of events for the San José State women’s track & field team is ahead on Saturday at the Fresno State Invitational. Live results for the meet are available on the track & field schedule page.
