Fresno, Calif. --- Makayla Webb has steadily gotten faster and faster in the 400-hurdles all year long. The trend continued Saturday at the Bulldog Invitational in Fresno, Calif., when Webb clocked a 1:00.70 in her signature event.

The time beat the San José State record, which Webb set earlier this season, and is also a top-five time this season in the Mountain West Conference.

"She closed really hard and got out of there with a personal-best," said Spartans' head coach Jeff Petersmeyer. "It was a tough race and I think she can put together a good race and drop that time."

Six of the Spartans' seven entries in the 1500-meter event recorded season-best times. Rebecca Garcia led the way with a new personal-record 4:46.67, marking nearly a five second improvement on her previous best this season.

Caitlin Wilson led the way for San José State in both the 400 and 200-meter dashes. The school's record holder clocked a 55.59 in the 400, and just missed her season best in the 200 with a time of 24.54.

Highlighting the field events for SJSU was Emma Sutherland in the high jump. She cleared the bar at 1.76 meters, just missing her season-best 1.77 meters, which she set at the Johnny Mathis Invitational (3/21).

"This was a quick meet, and it was a good look at three other teams in the conference," Petersmeyer said. "We've had a lot of personal-bests in the last week and I think we are starting to look good at the right time."

San José State has one last tune-up before the Mountain West Championships, the Longhorn Invitational on May 2.
