Azusa, Calif. --- In her first collegiate heptathlon, freshman Kolbi Sims scored 2,861 points at the California Invitational Combined on Wednesday.

Sims cleared the bar in the high jump at 1.63 meters, just missing her personal best in the event. The Eagle, Idaho native threw the shot put 10.13 meters and clocked a season-best 25.78 in the 200-meter dash.

“Kolbi is in a good place halfway through her very first heptathlon,” said head coach Jeff Petersmeyer. “She had a solid effort in the high jump, and she is becoming consistent in the shot put.”

The heptathlon concludes tomorrow with the 100-meter dash, javelin throw and 800 meter run.
