Childs Seventh In Deep Field At Mt. SAC Relays/CA Invitational Combined

Heptathlon Results

Azusa, Calif. --- Jade Childs sits in seventh place in a deep field of more than 50 entries in the heptathlon at the Mt. SAC Relays/California Invitational Combined in Azusa, Calif.
 
The senior from Meridian, Idaho has 3,096 points after the first four events of the heptathlon with three more to come tomorrow. Childs finished the 100-meter hurdles in 14.25 which was good for second in the field of 54.
 
She jumped a season-best 1.66 meters in the high jump in the day's second event. Her outdoor best at San José State was 1.67 meters in this same meet two years ago. Childs ended the first day with a shot put throw that traveled 10.16 meters and clocked a 25.89 in the 200-meter dash.
 
Spartan sophomore Kolbi Sims threw the shot put 10.51 meters for a 25th place finish and clocked a 25.59 in the 200 for a 14th place result. Sims sits in 25th place overall after four events with 2,880 points.
 
The two Spartans will finish the heptathlon at the Mt. SAC Relays/California Invitational Combined tomorrow with the long jump, javelin throw and the 800.
 
San José State will have other entries competing in the Bryan Clay Invitational and the Mt. SAC Relays beginning on Thursday. Live results for all three meets that the Spartans are in tomorrow are available on the women’s track & field schedule page.
