Albuquerque, N.M. --- Destiny Longmire extended the school's long jump record for the second time this season to highlight the San José State women's track & field team's first day at the Don Kirby Invitational inside the Albuquerque Convention Center.

"Destiny had a solid day in the long jump," said director of track & field Jeff Petersmeyer. "And she did it on the first jump."

Longmire set a new school record in the team's first meet of the year, and she did it again with a distance of 5.98 meters on Friday. The mark was good for fifth among collegians in a field.

Longmire wasn't done there as the freshman ran the team's fastest time in the 60-meter dash of 7.63. Caitlin Wilson was a close second on the team with a 7.68. The two sprinters finished 16th and 27th respectively in the field.

"We had a lot of solid marks today," Petersmeyer said. "Our young sprint group had some indoor lifetime bests and Caitlin (Wilson) and Destiny (Longmire) ran well in the 60 meters. I thought Jade (Childs) ran a great time today in the 60-hurdles."

Childs clocked an 8.70 in the 60-meter hurdles to lead the team.

San José State is back at It tomorrow in the final day of the Don Kirby Invitational. A group of four Spartan distance runners will also compete on Saturday at the Washington Husky Classic.
