Sims & Longmire Finish Among Leaders At Mountain T's Invitational

Feb. 2, 2018

Flagstaff, Ariz. --- San José State’s Kolbi Sims and Destiny Longmire competed today at the Mountain T’s Invitational hosted by Northern Arizona University. Both Spartans finished in second place in their events.

“Kolbi looked solid, especially in the 800 meters at 7,000 feet,” said SJSU Director of Track & Field Jeff Petersmeyer.

Sims clocked a 2:31.27 in the 800 to finish second in the final event of the pentathlon. The junior from Eagle, Idaho was in the top three in all five events and finished in second place overall with 3,575 points. Sims took first place in the 60-hurdles (8.96) and the high jump (1.66m).

Longmire jumped her best distance of the day on the fifth attempt, reaching 5.87 meters for a runner-up finish.

“Destiny didn’t have her best day,” Petersmeyer said. “But she will be ready to roll next weekend in Albuquerque.”

San José State has a big meet ahead next weekend, February 9-10, at the Don Kirby Invitational at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
