The San José State women's track and field team continued in action on Saturday as the team competed at the Armory Track Invitational in New York City and UW Invitational in Seattle.
Three freshmen participated in the triple jump at the Armory. Nicole Iloanya finished 13th overall and was the third-best freshman in the field. She jumped 11.96 meters, 39 feet, three inches, in her first attempt and best of the day. Cambree Harbaugh finished 16th overall and the fourth-best freshman, recording 11.81 meters, 38 feet, nine inches, in her final attempt. Kelsey Johnson-Upshaw recorded 11.17 meters, 36 feet, 7.75 inches, in her final attempt.
In Seattle, five Spartans participated at the UW Invitational. Caitlin Wilson posted identical times of 7.67 in the 60-meter dash preliminary and qualifying heats to finish 10th in the event. The freshman from Tallahassee, Fla., was .02 shy of qualifying for the final in her first major college meet.
Two Spartans ran the mile - Jennifer Beckingham who finished at 4:59.65 for 28th place out of 51 entries, and Angelica Parodi who ran in 5:17.79. Leah Lambert participated in the long jump and leaped 5.09 meters, approximately 16'8.5", to place 19th.
Marayne Martin finished the 800-meter run at 2:26.01.
The Spartans compete next weekend at the Jackson's/NB Boise Indoor Invitational.
