Track & Field Begins Indoor Season

The San José State University women’s track and field team began the indoor portion of the season on Friday as athletes participated in two meets – the Armory Track Invitational in New York City and the UW Invitational in Seattle.

At the Armory, Emma Sutherland high jumped, while Kelsey Johnson-Upshaw and Cambree Harbaugh participated in the long jump Friday morning.  Johnson-Upshaw, Harbaugh and Nicole Iloanya will compete in the triple jump Saturday morning.

In Seattle, the Spartans participated in the 200-meters race and the distance medley race.  Caitlin Wilson placed 13th at 25.41 seconds, while Maija Pinkins was 21st at 26.02.

The distance medley relay team consisted of Lalida Maokhamphiou, Madiha Raza, Melanie Fujiwara and Rebecca Garcia.  The foursome finished at 12:50.93.

The Spartans continue competition on Saturday in the long jump, 60-meter hurdles, 800 meters and mile.
