The San Jose State women's tennis team will travel to Fresno Calif., this weekend to compete in the Bulldogs Classic from November 11-13.
This will be the final tournament for the Spartans 2011 fall season. They will contend with Pacific, Fresno State, Washington, Cal Poly, Portland, Fresno Pacific, CSU Bakersfield, and CSU Stanislaus.
San Jose State head coach Sylvain Malroux announced the lineup for the tournament: Sabastiani Leon Chao, Chau Truong, and Erica Medlin will be in the first bracket. Alexis Marquez, Isadora Busch, and Emily Prescott are slotted in the second bracket.
“We are playing so much better now than when we started this fall,” said first year head coach Sylvain Malroux. “ Each player’s confidence and demeanor on the court has improved. I also think we are finding a balance between one another. They need to learn my coaching and I needed to learn their talents and strengths.”
The Spartans have accumulated 20 wins this fall, which is already five better than last season’s total. Truong and Leon Chao have accounted for 10 of those wins.
The last time San Jose State participated in the Bulldogs Classic was in September of 2006.
Play begins 8 a.m. on Friday morning at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center located on Fresno State’s campus, weather permitting.
