Dukic Drops Consolation Semifinal Singles Match

Moraga, Calif.-----Silvana Dukic’s bid for second consolation singles championship at the Saint Mary’s Invitational women’s tennis tournament in three years was derailed when Molly Aloia of Saint Mary’s posted a straight set win over the Spartan senior.

Aloia, who went on to win the White bracket consolation championship, posted a 6-0, 6-4 decision over Dukic. The three-time letter winner at San Jose State was one of two Spartans to win a consolation bracket championship during her 2005-06 freshman season.

The Spartans did come up in the winner’s column on October 11 when Anna Guzman and Kerri Kummer teamed up to capture the Blue bracket consolation doubles with an 8-3 triumph over Pacific’s Amber Abdallah and Clara Schuhmacher.

San Jose State concludes its Fall Tournament schedule at the Stanford ITA Regional, October 17-19.
