Moraga, Calif. - San Jose State's Emily Prescott made it past the quarter-final consolation round with a win on October 9 in the Saint Mary's College Invitational.
Prescott defeated Caitlin Visico of California in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3 to move on to the semi final round. She is the final player standing in the tournament for the Spartans.
Prescott was sent to the consolation bracket after a tough, 7-5 second set loss to Davis' Shawdee Rouhafza.
Prescott will be the last player remaining in the tournament for San Jose State.
Sandra Florea, and Chau Truong each dropped their quarter final matches and were bounced from the tournament as well as Kalin Eshelman who lost in the consolation round.
Truong played a back and forth first set against Pacific's Julia Hansen but lost it, 7-6 (4), and went on to lose the second set and the match, 7-6 (4), 6-2.
San Jose State was winless in four matches in the doubles competition.
"Emily looked strong out there and it was a great way to represent our team," said head coach Anh-Dao Nguyen-Church. "We're happy to have her on the court in the final day of the tournament."
Final round play of the Saint Mary's College Invitational at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 10.
