Berkeley Calif. – With day two in the books at the Cal Nike Invitational, San Jose State’s Chau Truong advanced to compete on the final day.
After a bye in the second round, Truong defeated Sacramento State’s Sophi Lohscheidt in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, in the Blue singles quarterfinals.
Freshman Alexis Marquez entered the second day with a perfect 2-0 in the tournament. Aubrey Paul of BYU stopped her momentum in the White singles semi-final 6-4, 6-2.
The two doubles teams for the Spartans' were also in action Saturday. Legendre/Stevens of Nevada took out San Jose State’s Truong/Prescott, 8-1. Also the duo of Sheehan Dzn/Anderson defeated Medlin/Leon Chao, 8-4.
With the final day of the tournament, Truong will face host Cal’s Alice Duranteau in the consolation semifinal. The winner will play Kelly Chui of UC Davis in the finals later in the day.
