SAN JOSE, Calif.---Chau Truong put up the only point of the afternoon for San Jose State in their 6-1 loss to the University of Idaho on April 22.
Truong played point for point with Silvia Irimescu through the first few points of both sets. However, Truong was able to pull away at the back end of each set and took the match, 6-2, 6-3.
"I just tried to hit everything hard and get into rhythm," said Truong following the match. "I wanted to officially end things on a good note."
Sandra Florea forced a first set tiebreaker against Daniela Cohen, but was unable to convert the points needed to win it. Florea went on to lose the second set and the match, 7-6 (5), 6-3.
The remaining singles players for San Jose State: Olivia Marshall, Kerri Kummer, Anna Guzman, and Jennifer Williams all lost in straight sets.
"Our girls played hard today, but we just couldn't put the points away like our opponents did," said Spartans' head coach Anh-Dao Nguyen-Church. "I'm proud of the effort that our team put out in the match today."
Today's match at the Spartan Tennis Complex concluded the 2010 dual season for San Jose State women's tennis. The Spartans, who finished 11-15, 0-8 WAC, did not earn a spot in the field of six teams at the Western Athletic Conference Championship Tournament.
