Moscow, Idaho--- The #66-ranked San Jose State University women's tennis team won four singles matches in a 4-1 victory against UTSA.
In singles, senior Chau Truong defeated Alena Shichkova of UTSA (6-12, 1-6 WAC) in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2 at number-three. With her win, Truong improved her overall school-record career win total to 122. She is 19-13 in singles action this season.
Along with Truong, junior Sabastiani Leon Chao, and sophomores #47 Klaudia Boczova and Julianna Bacelar each had a singles win for the Spartans (15-5, 7-1 WAC).
Leon Chao defeated UTSA's Isabelle Jonsson in straight sets 6-3,6-3. Boczova topped Jacobea Junger, 6-2, 6-0, and Bacelar won in straight sets against Miranda Poile defeating her 6-2, 6-1.
"We had a good competition despite the current conditions," said head coach Sylvain Malroux. "We were able to close today's match and today was a good learning experience to prepare us for future competition."
