RUSTON, La.---San Jose State women's tennis wrapped up their weekend on the road with a 5-2 loss to Louisiana Tech on April 10.
The Spartans got off to a good start by winning two out of three in the doubles competition to earn the point.
Kerri Kummer and Sandra Florea won big, 8-2, over Rocio Juarez and Laura Rodriguez, and Chau Truong partnered with Anna Guzman to secure the point with their 8-6 win over Maartje de Wit and Alena Erofeyeva.
Things turned for San Jose State in singles, as the team only picked up one win from Anna Guzman.
Guzman dropped the first set, 6-2, but was able to force a third set and then win it, with a final score of 2-6, 6-2, 6-2.
Jennifer Williams split sets with Rocio Juarez in number-six singles, but lost the match in a super tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-4, (10-3).
"I am very disappointed in the outcome of today's match," said head coach Anh-Dao Nguyen-Church. "I thought we had a chance to win the match, but the ball just did not roll our way."
San Jose State drops to 10-12, 0-5 WAC, after today's loss. The team will get their final chance to win a conference match when they travel to Hawaii to face both the University of Hawaii and New Mexico State.
