The San Jose State women’s tennis team lost 6-0 against the University of Idaho on April 10 at the Spartan Tennis Complex. The match was originally scheduled for Aril 9 but was cancelled due to rain. With last minute hopes still alive, the match was played this morning, April 10 at 11:00 a.m.
Jennifer Williams against Natalie Kirch got off to a slow start before she found her game in the second set, forcing a second set tiebreak point which Williams ended up losing, 6-2, 7-6(3).
Silvana Dukic of San Jose State was also involved in a close second set against Alexandra Ulesanu. The two went point-for-point before Ulesanu came out on top, 6-3, 7-5.
The remaining Spartan singles: Amber Silverstone, Olivia Marshall, Kerri Kummer, and Anna Guzman, were all defeated in straight sets.
Due to time constraints, there were no doubles matchups during the match.
“My hat is off to the girls on our team,” said San Jose State head coach Anh-Dao Nguyen-Church. “With the confusing circumstances of this match being cancelled and then rescheduled, I feel like our girls did the best they could without being prepared to play.”
San Jose State now moves to 10-12 (0-5) on the 2009 season.
