#73 Spartans Sweep Seattle U., 7-0

San Marcos, Texas --- The San Jose State women’s tennis team won all nine matches in a 7-0 win against Seattle University in a WAC conference match.

The #73 nationally-ranked Spartans (11-4 and 3-0 WAC) now have a season-best four-match winning streak after defeating Seattle U. (5-11, 0-4 WAC) San Jose State won each of the six singles matches in straight sets and in earned the point in the doubles competition.

The doubles team of Chau Truong and Julianna Bacelar won their set against Seattle U’s duo of Kristen James and Corinne Wurden 8-3. Jessica Willett and Amber Walker teamed up to defeat Steffanie Mortera and Gabriella Weissmann 8-3, and Erica Medlin and Sabastiani Leon Chao won their set 8-2.

In singles play, Truong won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3, against Seattle’s Anna Lambert, adding to the total of her career combined wins to 116. Truong is one win away from tying  Ashley Tavita‘s record of 117, set in her 2005-2008 career.

Leon Chao, Bacelar, Medlin, Walker, and freshman Justine Deleval also won their matches in straight sets against the Redhawks.

The Spartans continue weekend play as they take on UT Airlington, March 29, at 10:00 a.m. at the Texas State Tennis Complex.
