No. 59 Women's Tennis Back In Action Against No. 72 San Diego State

SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State's 59th-ranked women's tennis team is back in action on Friday, March 27, when No. 72 San Diego State visits Spartan Courts in Mountain West action.

After setting a new program high with a national ranking of No. 53 last week, the Spartans (8-6, 0-1 MW) dropped to No. 59 in this week's iteration of the ITA poll.

San José State is coming off a 7-0 defeat at the hands of 19th-ranked Arizona State in which a pair of impressive streaks were snapped.

Malin Cubukcu's 11-match singles winning streak came to an end with her loss to Ebony Panoho at No. 5, while Abbie Pahz absorbed her first loss since moving to No. 6 in the lineup.

Friday's match is the first of four consecutive at Spartan Courts for San José State. Hawai'i comes to town on Thursday, April 2, and UNLV visits one day later. Academy of Art closes out the home stand on Sunday, April 12.

The Aztecs have won two matches in a row, including a 6-1 win over No. 73 Sacramento State on Tuesday. San Diego State also boasts an impressive 5-2 win over No. 37 Arizona in late February. Tami Ngyuen leads the Aztecs with a 12-4 record at No. 2 singles, and Kennedy Davis is not far behind with a 9-5 mark at No. 3.

Last season, then-No. 74 SDSU beat the Spartans by a 5-2 margin at Spartan Courts.
