In only her fifth match of the season, Spartan senior Sanda Hadzisabic got out to a fast start by winning the first set, 6-2 against Vicky Michaud. Then, Michaud came back with a 6-2 win over Hadzisabic in the second set forcing a tiebreaker. Hadzisabic would go on to lose the tiebreaker and the match, 2-6, 6-2, 10-8.
“Sanda was very competitive today, and I’m happy to see that she was able to fight until the very last point,” said head coach Anh-Dao Nguyen-Church.
Silvana Dukic of San Jose State forced a tiebreak set point in the first set against Carolina Deluca, but then was shut out in the second set and lost the match, 7-5, 6-0.

In doubles, Kummer and senior Amber Silverstone pushed the score to 7-6 against Weronika Bloczynska and Megan Pritchard. Kummer and Silverstone would lose the ensuing rally to conclude an 8-6 loss.

After the match, Nguyen-Church said, “Our team has been very busy the past few weeks, and I think that with a few days off our team will come back rested and ready to play in the upcoming matches.”
