San Jose State women’s tennis finished on top of Sacred Heart University 6-1 on March 13 in Palm Springs California. The win makes the Spartans 1-1 on their three-game stint in
Spartan Singles: Amber Silverstone, Olivia Marshall, Silvana Dukic, Anna Guzman, and Jennifer Williams all won in straight sets over their SHU opponents. Silvana Dukic led throughout her entire matchup against Julianne Kasinow, winning in the end, 6-2, 6-1.
“Today Silvana was a fighter,” said head coach Anh-Dao Nguyen-Church. “She stayed engaged in the match until the very end, and was able to put her opponent away in the second set.”
Senior Amber Silverstone found herself down early in the first set 4-1 to opponent Kate Donnelly. Not another point was given up by Silverstone for the remainder of the set, and she went on to win the match, 6-4, 6-2.
“Amber had an amazing comeback today, and I’m very proud of her. Before I knew it, she got right back in it during the first set, and then went on to win,” said Nguyen-Church.
In doubles, the Spartan pairing of Kerri Kummer and Anna Guzman came back from a 4-1 deficit to defeat Ashley Amalfe and Mandy Finkelstein, 8-5. The other two
