SAN JOSE, Calif. – San José State’s women’s tennis team plays its fourth and fifth consecutive home matches this weekend, when it hosts UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly of the Big West Conference.

San José State (6-3) went 2-1 last weekend against No. 39 South Alabama, UC Davis and Pacific, and ranked No. 62 in this week’s ITA rankings. Marie Klocker, still ranked No. 122 in singles, leads the Spartans with a 6-0 record. Miyo Kobayashi leads the team in singles wins with seven, and is 7-2 on the spring.

UC Santa Barbara (5-5) opened the season with a grueling stretch of matches against USC, Utah, Oklahoma, Memphis and Washington State, and went 1-4 in those matches. The Gauchos have won four of their last five matches, however, including wins over UC Davis and San Francisco.

Cal Poly (2-7) has struggled this season, and enters the weekend on a three-match skid. The Mustangs own wins over Westmont and UC Santa Cruz, and their losses include common opponents Hawai’i, Fresno State, UC Davis, Pacific and Santa Clara.

Both matches are in jeopardy of being postponed due to rain in the forecast.
