San Jose State record: 2-1, 0-0 WAC. The Spartans took the first two matches of the year in convincing fashion against UC Santa Cruz and Sonoma State. Since then, they've had one postponed, one canceled and one loss to Loyola Marymount, 5-2 on 2/26.
Santa Clara record: 10-2, 3-0 WCC. The Broncos have won four of their last five matches, and are 5-1 at home this season. Santa Clara's most recent win came against Loyola Marymount, 5-2 on 2/27.
UC Davis record: 9-2, 3-0 Big West. The Aggies are currently on an eight-match win streak dating back to 1/29/11. They have a match scheduled against the University of Pacific on 3/4 before taking on the Spartans on 3/5.
Southern Utah record: The Thunderbirds have yet to play a dual match in 2011. They have matches scheduled this week against Dixie State and Dominican University before heading to San Jose on March 6.
Starting fresh: Freshmen Sabastiani Leon Chao has stepped out as San Jose State's number-one singles player in all three matches so far in 2011. She is 3-0.
Don't miss out: The Spartans have seven home matches left before the last week in March when they play the remaining eight of ten matches on the road to finish out the dual season. Be sure and cash in on your chance to see Spartan Tennis early in the season.
Seniors: The team has three seniors this year: Anna Guzman, Olivia Marshall, and Kalin Eshelman. Guzman is the only senior going for her fourth and final letter as an SJSU student-athlete. Marshall joined the team as a sophomore in 2008-09 and this will be Eshelman's first season with the Spartans.
Fall season wrap: SJSU won 18 singles matches this fall season. That's three less than the team had won in the previous three fall seasons combined. Sabastiani Leon Chao saw her first collegiate tennis action this fall and finished with a 6-2 record in singles over three tournaments. Chau Truong picked up where she left off last season and also finished with a 6-2 record in singles. The team as a whole won 20 matches in singles and doubles
