Tennis Falls On The Road Against UC Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara, Calif. ---The San Jose State women’s tennis team was beaten 7-0 on the road at UC Santa Barbara on February 28. 

Olivia Marshall forced a second set  tiebreak point in her singles match with Sofia Novak, but came up short 6-1 7-5.

            “Olivia played hard as always, and when she does that she will always be a tough competitor whether it’s a win or a loss,” said head coach Anh-Dao Nguyen-Church

            Jennifer Williams of San Jose State dropped the first set against Asagi Onaga, 6-1. Then after battling point for point in the early stages of the second set, Williams lost the match, 6-1 6-3.

            The rest of the Spartan singles: Amber Silverstone, Silvana Dukic, Anna Guzman, and Sanda Hadzisabic lost their matches in straight sets.

            Doubles pairings of: Silverstone/Guzman, Marshall/Dukic, and Williams/Hadzisabic all lost their matchups by a score of 8-2.

            Coach Nguyen-Church said, “Even though it is a loss for us, our team went out and played really hard which is always what I like to see from everybody.”  After today’s loss the San Jose State women’s tennis team stands at (3-3) on the season.
