Skillman, N.J.----- For the first time in program history, the San Jose State University women's tennis team is nationally ranked. In the February 26 rankings conducted by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), the Spartans are ranked 64th in the Division I poll of 300-plus teams.

San Jose State (7-3) presently has a two-match winning streak after a 6-1 win at the University of the Pacific on February 24. The Spartans notched their first victory over a nationally-ranked team since 2000 when they recorded a 4-3 triumph over #58-UNLV on February 15.

San Jose State is the only Western Athletic Conference member listed in ITA's top-75.

Individually, Spartan sophomore Klaudia Boczova from Slovakia is ranked 40th in singles. Boczova entered the national rankings at #58 on February 12 after her win over then-#26 Katie Le of Santa Clara. Boczova picked up her second victory of the season against a top-30 ranked opponent in her straight set over Aleksandra Josifoska of UNLV. Josifoska was ranked #19 at the time she lost to the Spartans' number-one player and is #24 in the latest rankings.

Boczova has an 8-2 record in singles play prior to San Jose State's next match. The Spartans host unranked UC Davis in a non-conference match, Sunday, March 3, at the Spartan Tennis Complex beginning at 1:00 p.m.
