Denver, Colo.----- For the third week in a row, San Jose State University number-one singles player Klaudia Boczova was named the Western Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
The sophomore from Slovakia picked up her second singles victory of the season against a top-30 ranked opponent when she defeated UNLV's Aleksandra Josifoska, 6-4, 6-2. Boczova came into the match ranked #58 in the February 12 Intercollegiate Tennis Association singles rankings while Josifoska was #19.
Along with her doubles win with partner Jessica Willett against the Rebels, San Jose State posted a 4-3 team victory for its first triumph over a nationally-ranked team since the 2000 season.
For the season, Boczova is 7-2 in singles play, all in the number-one position, and 5-3 in double competition.
San Jose State returns to action, Sunday, February 24, at the University of the Pacific.
