San Jose, Calif.---The San Jose State women’s tennis team will host the University of Texas San Antonio this Friday, February 18, 2011 at the Spartan Tennis Complex in San Jose, Calif., for a non-conference match.

SJSU Outlook: San Jose State has four letterwinners returning to the team from the 2009-10 season, and lost two seniors. Chau Truong lead the team with 30 wins last year and is returning with good health for her sophomore campaign. Head coach Anh-Dao Nguyen-Church is turning to incoming freshman Sabastiani Leon Chao and three other newcomers to help the team in 2011.
UTSA Outlook: The Roadrunners have won three straight matches after losing their first two of the dual season. UTSA is looking to rebound after finishing 4-16 in 2009-10 and missing the Southland Conference championship tournament for the first time in six years.
Starting Fresh: Freshmen Sabastiani Leon Chao and Emily Prescott both earned singles wins for SJSU in their first career dual-matches on 2/8 against UC Santa Cruz.
Fall Season Wrap: SJSU won 18 singles matches this fall season. That’s three less than the team had won in the previous three fall seasons combined. Sabastiani Leon Chao saw her first collegiate tennis action this fall and finished with a 6-2 record in singles over three tournaments. Chau Truong picked up where she left off last season and also finished with a 6-2 record in singles. The team as a whole won 20 matches in singles and doubles
Seniors: The team has three seniors this year: Anna Guzman, Olivia Marshall, and Kalin Eshelman. Guzman is the only senior going for her fourth and final letter as an SJSU student-athlete. Marshall joined the team as a sophomore in 2008-09 and this will be Eshelman’s first season with the Spartans.
Home Site: SJSU will play all of their home dual-matches in 2011 at the Spartan Tennis Complex located at the corner of 12th and Humboldt street in San Jose, Calif.
