Spartans Conclude The Final Day Of The San José State Invitational

Jessica Willett won her first and only singles match of the tournament.

San José, Calif. --- The San Jose State women's tennis team won three singles matches on the final day of the San José State Invitational.

Sophomore Jessica Willett made her first appearance in the three day tournament, defeating Santa Clara's Nikki Wonly in straight sets, 6-4; 6-2.

Sabastiani Leon Chao and Julianna Bacelar both went undefeated in singles match play and went into three sets. Leon Chao defeated Sofia Holmberg of The University of San Francisco, 3-6; 6-3; 6-4, and Bacelar topped USF's Marina Nikolic, 7-5;4-6;6-4.

For the three-day tournament, San Jose State players won 14 of 21 matches.

The Spartans concluded their Fall season and return to action, January 15, 2014 in a dual match against the University of Nevada.
