BERKELEY, Calif. – San José State’s women’s tennis team saw two of its doubles tandems win a pair of matches each to post a perfect 4-0 record on the second day of competition at the Cal Nike Fall Invitational.

Marine Dans and Sybille Gauvain proved why they were the No. 2 seed in the “Gold” flight, topping Jaimee Gilberston and Stephanie Yamada of UCSB, 8-5, in the quarterfinals. USF’s Genevieve McCloskey and Shanna Dos Santos hung tough in the semifinals, but the Spartans’ duo was able to come away with an 8-7 victory.

In the “White” bracket, Justine Deleval and Miyo Kobayashi took the opposite route to capture the flight crown. Saskia Angerer and Sofia Wicker of Sacramento State took them down to the wire in the semifinals, but Deleval and Kobayashi escaped and went on to take home the finals match against two more Hornets in Andie Mouzes Emily McColl.

Kobayashi kept her undefeated start to her San José State career going with a quarterfinal singles win over UC Davis’ Kelsie Bryant. Kobayashi is the last remaining Spartan in a singles championship bracket.

Action continues Sunday from the campus of UC Berkeley with doubles at 9:00 a.m. and singles at 1:30 p.m.
