San José, Calif. --- The San José State University women’s tennis team won the doubles point and two singles matches against #71 Santa Clara University, but fell short to the Boncos, 4-3 in a non-conference dual match.
Leon Chao finished first in singles and earned the second point for the Spartans after defeating Cooke in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.
After falling in the first set, Rey was able to fight back in the second and third set, topping Rouvillois, 6-7, 6-1, 7-5.
The Spartans are back at the Spartan Tennis Complex on Tuesday, March 11, as they host Southern Utah and Youngtown State. Play begins at 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., respectively.
