Final Stats

TEMPE, Ariz. – San José State’s women’s tennis team lost to a ranked opponent for the second time in as many days, as they dropped Saturday’s match at No. 27 Arizona State by a score of 6-0.

A day after they took the doubles point from No. 54 Arizona, the Spartans (4-2) had no such luck against the Sun Devils (5-2). Arizona State’s 54th-ranked doubles team of Ebony Panoho and Alexandra Osborne downed Marie Klocker and Gaelle Rey at No. 1, and the Sun Devils followed up with a 6-2 win at No. 3.

Singles action was unfortunately a mirror image of yesterday for the Spartans. The Spartans lost Nos. 3-6 in straight sets, and Sybille Gauvain then lost to No. 54 Desirae Krawczyk in a three-set affair. No. 82 Marie Klocker once again avoided her first singles loss of the season, as she was in a tight 1-6, 7-5, 2-3 match with No. 98 Kassidy Jump that went unfinished.

San José State returns home for seven consecutive matches inside the friendly confines of Spartan Courts, beginning with a matchup with South Alabama on Friday, Feb. 26.
