San Jose, Calif. - The San Jose State swimming and diving team received eight votes and placed 47th in the nation among 199 Division I women's swimming and diving programs in the December 17th TYR/CSCAA Division I Swimming and Diving poll announced today.

The Spartans, who were ranked fifth in's national poll of Division I Mid-Major programs on November 17th, were the highest ranked Western Athletic Conference team in this poll.  Boise State received three votes and came in 59th among ballots submitted by Division I coaches.

Stanford, with 1043 points, led the poll which comes out again in mid-January.

"This type of recognition is indicative of the improvements we have made and how hard we are working as a program," head coach Sage Hopkins.  "It really speaks to how great we, as a team, are doing and I believe it is the first time our program has received votes in the poll."
