Trammell Earns Third WAC Athlete of the Week Award

DENVER – For the third time this season, Kirsten Trammell has been named the Verizon WAC Swimmer of the week, this time for the week of Nov. 29-Dec. 4.   Trammell, a senior from Goodyear, Ariz., swam two U.S. Olympic trials qualifying times at the AT&T Winter National Championships and finished among the top-25 in both of her events. In the 100 breaststroke on Friday, Trammell swam 1:11.30 in the preliminaries to dip under the Trials qualifying time of 1:12.19. She would later swim a faster time of 1:11.29 to finish 23rd in the event. On Saturday, Trammell swam a 2:35.55 and bettered the qualifying time of 2:35.99. The Spartans' co-captain tied for 19th place among the 90 swimmers entered in the event.
Trammell still holds the top times in the WAC for both events, as well as being a part of the conference-leading 200 and 400 medley relay teams for the Spartans.   Kristy Ardavanis of Northern Arizona was named Verizon WAC Diver of the week after sweeping the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions against New Mexico State.
