Berkeley, Calif. - San Jose State University divers Jo Thibodaux and Jessica Holden competed against the divers of sixth-ranked University of California last Friday, November 14.
Holden, a true freshman out of Fair Oaks, Calif., scored a collegiate-best 268.20 over her six dives, to place first on the three-meter board, ahead of sophomore teammate Thibodaux and three Golden Bear competitors. Thibodaux was fourth with a score of 246.75.
Holden (252.59) and Thibodaux (243.07) finished third and fourth, respectively, on the one-meter board, with Holden’s mark again a collegiate best. Thibodaux fell just short of her season best (243.98). Cal freshman Molly Hayes won the event with a Zone E qualifying mark of 277.42.
The Spartans split up this week, with the swimmers off to Long Beach, Calif., for the annual Nike Cup, Thursday through Saturday, November 20-22, and the divers heading to Tucson, Ariz., for the University of Arizona Diving Invitational, Friday through Sunday, November 21-23.
